Scania is a global vehicle manufacturer with more than 315,000 connected vehicles in operation worldwide. The connected fleet powers a range of digital services including remote diagnostics, fleet management, and driver coaching, with the broader ambition of using vehicle data to reduce fuel costs and environmental impact, increase productivity, and improve driver performance.
To support this, Scania needed to expand its connected services portfolio while modernising the underlying architecture for scale, reliability, and cloud-native operation.
tDigital contributed to the development of Scania’s connected vehicle platform across microservice architecture, frontend, DevOps, and new digital services including authentication, localisation, service planning, address books, equipment administration, and customer settings. The engagement also included building a CI/CD pipeline and contributing to migration toward a hybrid cloud architecture spanning AWS and Azure, designed for fast data storage and delivery, optimised cost, improved device-to-cloud communication, and resilient disaster recovery.
The work covered microservice architecture, frontend development, DevOps, CI/CD engineering, cloud migration, and service development. The result was a scalable, cloud-native platform supporting Scania’s connected vehicle services and the company’s broader ambitions around productivity, sustainability, and data-driven fleet operation.
